Dress a Girl Around the World

Gather your friends, sewing group, and other enthusiastic people and have a fabulous time making pillow case dresses for girls around the world.

• Start a sewing group that meets regularly. Include friends who don't sew as you will need people to help cut and press. Making the dresses assembly line fashion makes the work go quicker.
• Contact your local Kohl's store--Kohl's Cares for Kids--we will provide you with the tax ID, a letter and information Kohl's will need--Kohl's will send volunteers to your event and $500 to Dress a Girl. This helps us tremendously in getting these dresses to girls around the world.

• Get a local church youth group to canvas the neighborhood for pillowcases, elastic, other trims. Make it a treasure hunt!

• Email your friends and include the Dress a Girl Flyer to ask for donations--pillowcases, trims, elastic, money, and their time to help.

• Create a pillowcase dress kit and ask for sponsors--charge $15-$20 to sponsor a kit--one they can sew themselves and return a finished dress, or one that someone else will sew for them.

• Ask a local youth group, girl scout troop, boy scout troop to spend some time making the Prayer Dolls. Set it up at working stations and provide popcorn and a favorite beverage. Food always makes it more fun.

• Work with a Senior Citizens center to have an afternoon of cutting and sewing and/or making the prayer dolls. Senior Centers are always looking for things to keep the residents busy. And the Seniors love making things that are useful to others.

• Sponsor a Movie night at your church and "charge" one pillowcase as the price of admission. Donating 2 pillowcases will get you admission and a bag of popcorn.

• Looking for an Advent project? Make a prayer doll one of the projects

• Monetary donations are always welcome.You can make a tax-deductible donation Dress a Girl. We are asking for one dollar with each pillowcase or dress donation. This can be done online. Just go to:
