I'm 17 and young to this life, but I believe every girl is beautiful and deserves to feel that way. I am a senior at my high school and we are asked before we graduate to do some sort of project reflecting skills or an activity we would like to pursue after we graduate. My feelings are what better skill is there than to do something to help other people- after all, there is no greater joy than to bring joy to others.

Instead of doing the average learning how to bake or fix my car type projects, I wanted to do something a little bigger. I want to do something that helps others more than myself. When I was little, I had always dreamt of helping in Africa and it carried all the way through my teenage years. So in light of this project, I decided to search for some way to help in Africa. Though going to Africa to help or actually see the effect of the project I want to do would be a dream, I don't think I can afford that... But in my eyes the satisfaction of knowing made clothing for more than one girl and maybe the confidence in her true beauty and individual worth is enough.

Woman have a divine nature and I believe women have inner strength that unites us. I am so excited to try to develop a project to make dresses to help this cause in the next few months... Let's see what Oregon can pull together for Uganda. Wish me luck!

I look forward to helping expand Dress a Girl in the Philippines and partnering with volunteers who would like to come and teach impoverished women, abused teens, older orphan girls to sew, and see the beautiful smile of Filipinas with new dresses!
