I taught middle school English for 37 years and I now work part time in Teacher Certification Education. I've been sewing since I was eleven, but not much in the past 20 years or so (mostly mending and home decor). I came across the Dress a Girl organization online and wanted to get involved. I'm now sewing as a "satellite" contributor to one of the groups in Florida. I love that individuals may make a meaningful contribution to this awesome organization!

About Me

I have been sewing since early childhood, making my own garments on the old treadle machine since age 12.  I loved making all clothing for my 2 darling little girls, and later taught machine and dressmaking classes for the Singer store.

More recently, I have been making quilts for my children and grandchildren, as well as quilted pocketbooks for friends and loved ones.

Now that I'm a retired great-grandmother with lots of energy, I was looking for something to do that could "make a difference."  While searching the Internet for volunteer opportunities, I happened to see Dress-a-Girl Around the World.  It seems like the perfect thing for me and I'm excited to be joining this wonderful organization!

I started in January and now have 120 pretty dresses finished and ready to make some precious girls feel loved and special! I would love to accompany a group on a trip so I could hand deliver dresses to some dear little girls! I still don't know who my ambassador is... I'd like to try to join a trip to Appalachia since I live in NJand often vacation in VA or NC.

About Me

Ive have loved to sew since I was a small girl. My first machine was a singer hand crank.  Sewing is my happy place.  You can only give all your friends and family so many of your creations so what better way than to give a girl a dress

It is a way to give back to others who need help. As a child it was always exciting to get a new dress

About Me

I am a lifelong sewer - started standing by my mom sewing on her pedal machine when I was itty-bitty and made my first doll's skirt by hand when I was 5 years old. My husband and I have twin daughters who are now 42 and have given us four grandsons and one granddaughter. I have been a devoted follower of Christ since 1976 and walking with Him grows sweeter every year!

I currently work with a group of ladies at church - we have been together three years. We have made pillowcase dresses, pillowcases for a family homeless shelter, bibs for a special needs school in Haiti and kindergarten graduation robes for a school in Adziwa, Malawi among other things. Stumbled on this website and love the design and organization! Hope to get our team contributing soon!

About Me

I have been sewing in some form for over 50 years and have a need to continue. Dress a Girl Around the world caught my eye after reading about it in the local newspaper. I thought I can do that and got contacts through a friend. My first goal is to make 100 dresses in four sizes, 1/2 4, 8 and 14, 25 of each. I have the size 4 done and my 3 year old grandaughter thinks they are hers. I have to hide them for a while so I can get them to my contact without her noticing.

I have learned that there is a lot of good generous people willing to help with the cause. After talking to some of them, I received so many bags of fabric, notions and gift cards, I'll be able to sew for a long time. Many of them have had the fabric and didn't want to let it go. I can understand the attachment they have for their crafts, I am the same way, but they decided it was going to a good cause. It was much appreciated. As I sew the dresses I post pics of them on Face Book so they know I am using the fabric for the dresses.

I am having so much fun creating the many colored dresses.

Just love the idea of doing for others, especially kids. The timing of my acceptance is perfect. This evening I completed sewing the last of 31 dresses for Dress a Girl. Just have to pack and ship to my Ambassador on Friday. Thank you, looking forward to a long beautiful relationship.
