About Me

I am recently widowed and searching for opportunities to make a difference in the world.  I love children and I love to sew, so Dress A Girl seems like an ideal match for my interests and talents.  I hope to make many, many little dresses for these precious children.

I would like to have a little girl but I am done having children. So why not sew something for girls. It's time to give back and bless these girls with beautiful dresses and love.

About Me

Holly Scheff, Jacksonville, Florida

I had the good fortune to be raised in a Christian family that was always involved in mission out reaches. When I made a personal decision to trust Jesus, He gave me the same desires.

I have been married to my dear husband for 42 years. We have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren. My daughter told me about DAG. I was very interested, but because I was teaching at that time and didn't have the time needed to start something new, I filed the thought away.

As a retirement gift, my husband gave me a beautiful sewing room. The stage was set. I went to the website, found the nearest group and attended one of their sew times with a dear friend. We came back to our church very excited with the thought we can be part of this wonderful ministry of sewing God's best dresses for His sweet needy girls. As I have talked to others about it, God has raised up a mighty band of faithful people who are part of our ministry.

Our dresses are sewn one at a time and they are as unique and beautiful as the girls receiving them. As we sew we pray for the girls who will receive the dress and those who deliver them. It is an honor and privilege to be part of such an incredible ministry, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ one dress at a time.

About Me
I am a 'professional' volunteer now after having 3 sucessful careers in nursing, psych and country club management. My life is happy with my hubby Carl of 33 yrs and my amazing son Kyle who is 24 and a youth minister at two Catholic churches. Getting him through college and a sucessful, centered and happy person is THE best feeling a mom can have!! At age 50 I decided to challenge myself to something difficult to overcome each year on my birthday. Sewing was my worst fear as I was a flunkie in jr.high home ec. Ironically my mom was the town seamstress. She designed swanky ballroom style evening gowns, wedding parties and even altered the firemen uniforms!!! I instead wanted to be an artist backpacking my way through Europe. Didn't happen, luckily. But I hated sewing. I have hot glued pants hems, super glued buttons on shirts and worse. With the technology we have today I have been teaching myself sewing skills through YouTube tutorials and friends through Facebook sewing groups. In addition to sewing for friends and family I have been involved in Lutheran World Baby Care kits which is an international mission sending layette sets to places in need. I have sewn hundreds of flannel baby diapers and baby kimono style nightgowns. I just began sewing warm hoodies with matching pants. I have just entered my 5th year of volunteering with this group. When I came across " Dress A Girl " I decided to volunteer for another mission that is needed in our world!!

I have been teaching budding textile artists sewing skills by leading them in designing and constructing dresses for Dress a Girl. It has been a most rewarding experience all around!

About Me

I'm a stay-at-home mom to two beautiful energetic boys, keeping the family and house in order while my fiancé works hard in his business he recently created. I also help my disabled parents when needed, and have a handful of clients I service as a licensed cosmetologist. I've had a love for sewing, crafting, art, and anything diy from a very young age. I oftentimes look to create, or make things I need before I purchase at a store. Making my own laundry detergent for the last 12 years is a great example of this, which I am most proud of. Though I love creating things for myself, and my family and friends out of love, I felt my life as a stay-at-home parent could use a branch into the real world. I found "Dress A Girl Around The World" while researching online ways to impact the world outside my door. This avenue has inspired my love for helping people, and on a funny note, has settled my fiancé's anxiety over my unwillingness to throw away usable scrap sewing materials. All my remnents and scraps are used to make dresses for girls now, and I even take on donations of unwanted fabrics, bedsheets and tablecloths to repurpose for these "blessings."

Thank you, to all at "Dress A Girl Around The World" for making me feel like I can contribute to a small portion of our world's needs. These blessings are worth more than gold to these girls, and are worth even more to my heart and soul. You have given me a purpose again, a self confidence in those dreary days I feel alone and useless. Thank you, and God Bless!

Looking for a purpose beyond my front door. Using my love of sewing, and my available skills and tools to help make a difference.
